Well, today I returned to the mma studio for the trial BJJ class. I didn’t take any pictures this time since I didn’t have my phone. I’ll admit, I was super nervous about this today for some reason. There were so many big people in the class, and I felt extremely out of my element. This is probably the furthest out of my comfort zone I have been this whole experiment, but it was a great feeling also.
I was a bit nervous about the class, and my initial thoughts are that it seems very strange to me. It took a bit for me to get used to the large amounts of physical contact with big sweaty strangers. But the people in the class that I interacted with were all extremely friendly and outgoing. And the showed me a way to lock somebody’s arm and break it. I took turns trying it with my partner until the other tapped out. It was very complicated to me, there were ten different moves to do just to get to that point. But I really liked that part of it, and now I am feeling a pull to sign up for the class for a bit and learn something new and different. It also means I’ll have to get past my aversion of big sweaty strangers though. I’m also not sure how I will force time for this activity between my other ones. But for now, I had a great time at this class, far beyond my comfort zone, and need to evaluate if I want to return for more!
